School Bus and Delivery Truck Collision Sends Students to Hospital in Fresno

A school bus and a delivery truck were involved in a rear-end collision Tuesday afternoon in Northwest Fresno that left several students injured, the California Highway Patrol said.

The crash occurred at about 2:50 p.m. on December 9, 2025, at the intersection of Bullard Avenue and Van Ness Boulevard. CHP said traffic was slowing for a signal change when the delivery truck struck the rear of the school bus.

About 60 students were on the bus at the time. Authorities said 15 students reported injuries, and six were transported to local hospitals for evaluation. No injuries were reported by either driver.

CHP said the cause of the crash is still under investigation.

What to do if you were injured on a school bus or if your child was involved

If you or your child was on a school bus involved in a crash, it is important not to judge the situation only by what seemed obvious at the scene. Children often do not show symptoms right away. Headaches, neck pain, nausea, fatigue, or changes in behavior can appear later the same day or days afterward.

If any symptoms develop after returning home, medical care should be sought and the provider should be told clearly that the child was involved in a bus crash. That information needs to be included in the medical record. Even a brief visit can become important later.

Parents should also keep any paperwork connected to the incident. This includes school notices, emergency response reports, medical paperwork, and any communication from insurance companies. Documents that seem minor at first often become relevant once questions about responsibility or treatment arise.

Insurance companies may contact families quickly after a school bus crash. You are not required to give a recorded statement right away, and early conversations are often used to downplay injuries or limit claims.

When it makes sense to speak with a lawyer after a school bus crash

Not every school bus accident turns into a legal case, but there are situations where it makes sense to speak with a personal injury lawyer, especially when a commercial vehicle is involved or when injuries do not resolve quickly.

If a child was taken to the hospital, missed school because of ongoing symptoms, or continues to complain of pain days after the crash, it may be worth getting legal guidance. The same applies when insurance companies begin calling soon after the incident or asking for recorded statements while the investigation is still ongoing.

Collisions involving school buses and delivery trucks often raise questions about more than one responsible party. These cases can involve the truck driver, the delivery company, the bus operator, or the school district. Once fault becomes disputed, families are often left dealing with multiple insurance carriers at the same time.

Speaking with a lawyer does not mean filing a lawsuit. In many cases, it simply helps families understand their options, what information should be preserved, and whether medical costs and related losses may be covered.
